Defensive back Simeon Thomas was playing on the South Florida Express team during last weekend’s IMG 7-on-7 tournament. He played corner, at 6’4 and 190-pounds, and helped lead them to an undefeated record. The two-sport athlete is very athletic and has put on quality weight over the last few months.
“LSU, Alabama, Miami, Georgia, UCF and Virginia Tech,” are some of the colleges Thomas listed as interests. He went on to talk more about the schools that he likes.
“Miami I just like the tradition,” said Thomas. “That is the hometown, you have to respect that.”
“I talk a lot with Avery Johnson, Patrick Peterson’s brother. He told me that LSU is losing a lot of DBs and they like tall corners. I looked into it and talked with the recruiter a couple times. He wants to get me up to a camp and see what I can do. I like them. If they give me an offer, they will be in my top five.”
The Hialeah (Fla.) High School DB said that Florida State was the first to offer him.
“Florida State offered,” said Thomas. “When I went up, I went on an unofficial visit and we watched my highlight tape. They showed me my errors. They offered me at safety."
He continued.
"It is a cool town, very big. They have a rich tradition, too. All around, it is a good place. Eddie Graham is recruiting me, he is an alright guy. He keeps it straight, he keeps it straight up with you.”
Academics and playing time are going to be the key factors in his decision. “I am looking at it from an academic standpoint and playing early, but I will wait my turn. I would like to go in as a true freshman and have a chance to compete for a spot.”
